Made from the man behind shows like Line of Duty and Bodyguard, it was no real surprise when Jed Mercurio's ITV/STV drama Trigger Point became an instant success when it landed back in January 2022. The show, which features Vicky McClure as bomb disposal expert Lana Washington, was quickly renewed for a third series, and it's coming very soon!
As we await the third instalment, here's everything you need to know about series three of Trigger Point, as ITV/STV confirm filming for a fourth series is also now complete.
Will there be a third series?
YES! News that the show has been commissioned for a third series was announced on Friday 11th October, with writer Jed Mercurio saying at the time: “Thank you to all the Trigger Point viewers who have made the series such a success. Thanks to our fantastic crew and brilliant cast led by the amazing Vicky McClure. We’re thrilled ITV, together with All3Media International, have commissioned a third season of twists, turns, bangs and blasts.”
When is it on TV?
We don't have an exact start date just yet, but bosses have said it will be included in ITV/STV's Autumn schedule, so it will begin sometime in October!
Polly Hill from ITV/STV said: “I am delighted that Trigger Point will be returning for a third series and Vicky McClure will be reprising her role as Lana Washington. The whole cast are amazing in this series and HTM are a great team to work with. There's going to be lots more twists and turns and of course explosions in this third series, viewers are going to love it!”
What will happen?
ITV/STV say of the third series: 'In this third series, explosives officer Lana Washington and her team are called to investigate a bomb threat that soon reveals itself to be the start of a sinister vendetta. Someone is targeting individuals, and demanding revenge. Working alongside the Police Counterterrorism Unit, the Bomb Disposal Squad race against time to find the bomber before they claim their next victim.'

The full length trailer was released on the evening of Monday 29th September, alongside the caption: 'Hold your breath...Trigger Point S3, coming soon to ITV'.

How can I watch it?
Just like the first two series, the third will air on ITV/STV, as well as ITVX and STV Player.
Who is in the cast?
Line of Duty, Broadchurch and The Replacement actor Vicky McClure will reprise her role as EXPO agent Lana Washington in the third series.
She said: “Trigger Point is back! We're all so excited to get going. Having had such a positive response to the previous two series, we want to make the next series even more exciting, keep everyone on the edge of their seats whilst getting to know even more about the brilliant characters in the show. Lana is such a complex character to play, it’s a joy for an actor to play a role with as many layers as Lana.”
As well as Vicky, Eric Shango, Nabil Elouahabi, Natalie Simpson and Maanuv Thiara will also return, with actor Jason Flemyng joining the cast as a guest star for series three.

When was filming?
Filming for series three of Trigger Point first started during the first week of February 2025, before concluding in early June 2025.
Where was it filmed?
Following the same pattern as the first two series, Trigger Point has been filmed in London, including locations such as Hackney, South Kilburn, Bethnal Gren, Hackney Wick and the Limehouse Link Tunnel.
