Find out how you can get this new 50p
Last updated 20th Jun 2019
This year we've already had a number of new 50p coins, from the childhood favourite Gruffalo, to Professor Stephen Hawking, we've also had another popular character amongst youngsters - Peter Rabbit, and the infamous Sir Arthur Conan Doyle character Sherlock Holmes! Now, it is the turn of yet another successful children's book to get its 50p version - Peter Pan.
The news comes after the announcement was made by Westminster Collection on their social channels, to celebrate 90 years since J.M. Barrie, the author of Peter Pan, gave all his rights to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, the charity benefitting from the new coins.
Fans were overcome with emotion following the announcement. Taking to social media, one user wrote, 'If anyone wants to buy me the Peter Pan 50p coin set (particularly the tinker bell one) I will forever be in your favour' whilst another wrote 'Yes! Finally a Peter Pan coin, a fantastic souvenir for a fantastic cause!'.
If you're an avid Peter Pan fan, you can buy a complete set containing all of the designs, a silver proof coin with an impressive full-colour illustration (pictured above), a complete silver proof set, or even a gold proof! However, there are just 500 of the gold proof, which is made from 22 carat gold.
Further information on the Westminster Collection website confirms that a donation from the sale of every Peter Pan 50p will go towards the charity. If you're interested in buying the coins, then there are a few different versions available from their website.
