It's that time of year again! The cold and dark nights have arrived, the Christmas adverts are in full swing, and it's time to start filling the cupboards with festive food and drink!

However, if you work Monday-Friday usually you'll no doubt be missing a lot of the December festivities, but we have some advice that may just solve all your problems...

Christmas Day falls on Monday 25th December this year, with Boxing Day falling on Tuesday 26th December. New Year's Day will then take place on Monday 1st January. All of these are national bank holidays, meaning you don't have to use up your annual leave.

So if you book three days off after Christmas, (27th, 28th and 29th December), you can get stuck into the festive season with 11 days off.

What does this mean for you then?

Basically, if you book off some annual leave for 28th, 29th and 30th December, in total you'll receive 11 days off together, using just THREE DAYS of your holiday allowance.

See how it all works below:

Saturday 23rd December (Weekend)

Sunday 24th December: Christmas Eve (Weekend)

Monday 25th December: Christmas Day (Bank Holiday)

Tuesday 26th December: Boxing Day (Bank Holiday)

Wednesday 27th December: (Annual Leave)

Thursday 28th December: (Annual Leave)

Friday 29th December: (Annual Leave)

Saturday 30th December: (Weekend)

Sunday 31st December: New Year's Eve (Weekend)

Monday 1st January: New Year's Day (Bank Holiday)

Tuesday 2nd January: (Bank Holiday)

Of course, you probably need to book this annual leave in quick, as we suspect the hack will travel fast around the office as the festive period grows closer!
