Two men have been seriously injured after a car crashed into a house and caught fire in Lytham St Anne's in Lancashire.

The McLaren hit a lamppost before colliding with a building in Heyhouses Lane at 2.35am today (23rd of December) following reports a McLaren car had collided with a lamppost and then a house.

Both the car and the house caught fire.

They were quickly extinguished by firefighters from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service.

Nobody in the house was injured, but two men who were inside the vehicle were both taken to hospital.

One is said to be critical but stable and the other is in a serious but stable condition.

Sgt Tom Malley, from Lancashire Police's Roads Policing Unit, said:

“As a result of this collision two men are in hospital with serious injuries and my thoughts are with their loved ones at this time.

“Work is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what led to the collision. I would ask any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage which captured the McLaren in the lead up to the collision to contact the police as soon as possible.”
