Teenager dies after getting into difficulty in south London lake

Police have confirmed a teenager who ended up in a lake in south London has died.

Emergency services were called to Beckenham Place Park yesterday afternoon.

The body of a 15 year old boy was found by divers late last night.

His family are being supported as an investigation into what happened takes place.

It's been confirmed the teenager's death is being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said:

"Officers were called to the park shortly after 3pm on Friday April 4 following reports of a boy going missing after getting into difficulty in the water.

"Specialist diving teams were in attendance alongside the London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade.

"A boy was recovered from the lake at around 10.42pm on Friday April 4. He was taken to hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead. His death is being treated as unexpected but not believed to be suspicious.

"His family are aware and continue to receive support."
