Teenager and man in critical condition following Barnsley stabbing

A man has been arrested in connection with a double stabbing in Barnsley, which has left a teenager and a man critically ill.

Emergency services were called to a property in Regent Street in the town centre at 1.40pm yesterday afternoon (Saturday 25th October 2025).

A 17-year-old boy and a 42-year-old man, who are both known to each other, were found with stab wounds.

Both victims remain in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

Another man, who is also 42, has been arrested on suspicious of attempted murder and possession of a bladed article. He remains in police custody at this time.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson added:

"Three scenes were established while initial enquiries were conducted by our officers. Two have since been stood down, with one remaining on Regent Street.

"Our investigation continues at pace as officers determine the circumstances surrounding this incident.

"One knife has been recovered and it is believed this was an isolated incident."
