Section 60 order in place following stabbing in Gorton
Emergency services found a 17-year-old injured in Ryder Brow Road late last night
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested over a stabbing in Gorton, which has left a teenager of the same age injured.
Greater Manchester Police officers and paramedics were called to Ryder Brow Road late last night (Friday 10th October 2025).
A Section 60 order has been put in place in Gorton and Reddish until 11.30pm this evening (Saturday 11th October 2025).
The Section 60 is effective in the following areas: Hyde Road; Mount Road; Barlow Road; Longford Road West; Gorton Road and Reddish Lane.
A 17-year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and remains in custody for questioning.
Detective Inspector Natasha Feerick from Greater Manchester Police's city centre division said:
"We understand how concerning incidents like this can be for the local community, and we want to reassure residents that we are fully committed to tackling violent crime and keeping our streets safe.
“The Section 60 authority has been put in place to give our officers enhanced powers to stop and search individuals in the area, helping us to prevent further violence and identify those responsible.
“An arrest has been made, and we are working hard to identify further suspects. Extra patrol officers have been deployed around the local area both on foot and in patrol cars. If you have any concerns, our officers will be happy to provide reassurance and listen to any of your queries.”
