Tributes are pouring for a Scottish tourist - who has passed away after an explosion at his B&B in Rome.
54-year-old Grant Paterson from East Kilbride was severely burned in the suspected gas leak last Monday.
The CalMac employee has been described as a 'much-loved and larger-than-life' character by bosses at the ferry operator.
Diane Burke, CalMac's Chief Operating Officer, said: "Everyone at CalMac is distraught that Grant has passed away. He was a true gentleman and a credit to MV Clansman, the vessel he served aboard.
"During a distinguished 12-year career with us, he embodied the very best of CalMac and, with his larger-than-life character, he was much-loved by colleagues and passengers alike.
"Our thoughts are with Grant's friends and family at this extremely difficult time."
The Mayor of Rome has now ordered an investigation into how the explosion happened.
Friends of Mr Paterson set up an online fundraiser for the dad and his daughter - which has raised more than £11,000.
