Police launch murder investigation after man found dead in Newcastle-under-Lyme

A 30-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder

Staffordshire Police have launched a murder investigation after the body of a man was found in a park in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Officers first received reports of a man in his 50s unconscious in Queen Elizabeth Park on Silverdale Road in the town just before 7:45 a.m. on Sunday morning (March 3rd).

When responders arrived at the scene, they found the body of the man and immediately launched an investigation into his death.

Following initial enquiries, a 30-year-old woman from Newcastle-under-Lyme was arrested by police on suspicion of murder.

She was taken to a local police station and currently remains in police custody as the force tries to piece together what has happened.

Officers for Staffordshire Police are still at the scene and will continue to maintain a presence in the area whilst the investigation is carried out.

The force are now asking anyone who may have any potential information to get in touch as soon as possible to help with their enquiries.

Anyone who may have any information from around the time of the reports or of the area at the time the reports were first made is being asked to call 101 quoting incident reference number 168 from March 3rd, 2024.
