West Midlands Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was shot dead in Wolverhampton.

Emergency services were called to Leicester Street this morning (19 September) to reports of shots being fired.

Two men were found seriously injured in a vehicle.

One, in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second, in his 30s, was taken to hospital with injuries which are believed to be life threatening.

"avoid the area"

In a statement, police said: "Our investigation is at an early stage, and we're asking people to avoid the area as a number of scenes are being held and some local roads are still closed.

"Officers will remain in the area throughout the day as enquiries continue."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “On arrival crews found a man in a critical condition who was receiving basic life support from the police.

"Crews immediately began administering advanced life support. Sadly, despite efforts, nothing could be done to save him, and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.

“A second man was also found in a life-threatening condition and crews immediately began administered advanced trauma care before conveying him to hospital under emergency driving conditions.”
