Manchester United have reached an agreement with Wolves to sign Matheus Cunha.
The Brazil forward has been in Manchester over the weekend to put the finishing touches to his move to Old Trafford, which is subject to a visa and registration.
The 26 year-old, who has won 13 senior caps for Brazil, scored 18 goals in all competitions last season.
A Manchester United spokesperson said:
"Manchester United has reached agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers for the signing of Matheus Cunha.
"The Brazilian forward’s signing is subject to visa and registration.
"The 26 year-old has 13 senior caps for Brazil, and, in his club career, has made 270 appearances and scored 72 goals in the English, Spanish, German and Swiss top flights.
"During two-and-a-half seasons at Wolves, Cunha has scored 33 goals in 92 appearances.
"Everyone at Manchester United looks forward to welcoming Matheus to Old Trafford."
A Wolves spokesperson said:
"Matheus Cunha has completed a permanent move to Manchester United for a club record fee following two-and-a-half years at Molineux.
"The Brazilian finishes his Wolves career with 33 goals in 92 appearances, and was recently crowned Players’ Player of the Season following an impressive campaign, but now moves on for a fresh challenge.
"Cunha’s move to Wolves from Atletico Madrid was announced on Christmas Day of 2022 and, after initially helping Wolves retain their Premier League status, came alive across the 2023/24 campaign.
"The 26-year-old hit a memorable strike in the club’s Emirates FA Cup win at rivals West Bromwich Albion in January 2024 and claimed only Wolves’ second ever Premier League hat-trick in a stunning success at Chelsea one week later.
"Last season the attacker finished as the club’s top scorer with 17 goals – six of which were nominated for the Goal of the Season award, including two in a big win at Fulham and an ‘Olimpico’ strike against United on Boxing Day.
"Having played his part in securing an eighth successive campaign at this level for the club, Cunha played his final game for Wolves against Brentford on Sunday and now makes his departure.
"Everyone at Wolves would like to thank Matheus for his contributions in old gold and wish he and his family the best of luck for the future."
