An investigation is underway after reports of an "altercation" between two men on a bus in Warrington.

Cheshire Police were sent out yesterday evening (Saturday 13th July) at around 7pm.

One of the men, a 74-year-old, had collapsed. He was taken to hospital but later died.

A man, 48, has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.

Detective Inspector Dave Hutcheon, of Cheshire Police, added: "We are keen to speak to any witnesses on the bus who have yet to come forward so that we can get a clear picture of the events leading up to the man’s death.

"I’d urge them to come forward - either ring on 101 or go to our website."

Officers were sent to Cotswold Road in the Poplars and Hulme area.

The bus was the number 20, which had left Warrington Bus Station at 6.40pm, travelling towards Poplars Avenue.
