A GoFundMe page in memory of 9-year-old Jordan Banks has hit £100,000 in donations.

The young Liverpool F.C. fan died after being hit by lightning while playing football in Blackpool last Tuesday.

The GoFundMe titled "Jordan's legacy" was set up to support Jordan's family and help with the funeral costs.

Inquest into Jordan's death

A short hearing will be held today for the opening of an inquest into Jordan's death.

It's unlikely that much will be discussed in the hearing at midday in Blackpool Town Hall, but the inquest will be formally opened.

Tributes to Jordan

In the days following Jordan's death, there has been an outpouring of tributes on social media, with #RIPLittleMan trending on Twitter.

Included in those paying tributes was Jordan's team, Liverpool F.C., who tweeted "You'll Never Walk Alone, Jordan Banks".

Jordan himself was an avid fundraiser, previously raising thousands of pounds for a local counselling service in memory of his uncle.

He also left sweeties on the car bonnets of key workers during the pandemic to help boost morale.

The youngster has been hailed after it was revealed that he had donated his organs to help save others.

A doorstep clap was held in Jordan's memory on Thursday.
