The Headteacher of West Kirby Grammar School has paid tribute to a 15-year-old student who died in a crash on the M53 last week.

A school bus overturned on the carriageway on Friday morning (29 September).

The driver, 40-year-old Stephen Shrimpton, and pupil Jessica Baker both died.

Their families have paid tribute over the weekend, with Mr Shrimpton's saying he had 'medical issues' at the wheel.

Most recently, Jessica's Headteacher has released a statement, which describes her as 'Unequivocally kind and empathetic' and continues to say 'Jessica was a dedicated friend who was a well-liked and respected member of our school community'.

The school also says it will continue to work closely with Jessica's family and friends to ensure that it celebrates Jessica's life 'in the most fitting way possible', and that support is in place for students and staff.
