Police have found the bodies of an elderly man and woman in Milton, Abingdon.

Officers from Thames Valley Police (TVP) were called to a property in the Oxfordshire village on Monday night (15 September).

The bodies of a man in his 80s and a woman in her 70s were found at the house.

A statement from TVP said: "At around 7pm Monday (15/9), Thames Valley Police were called the unexpected death of two people at a property in Milton, Abingdon.

"Sadly, the body of a woman in her seventies and a man in his eighties were found. Their family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers, our thoughts are very much with the family at this extremely difficult time."

Margaret Maytham lives in Milton, and told our reporter: "It's been a terrible shock, and a lot of people are very upset about it.

"They were very private people I think. And it is a shock, the place full of police and things."

Thames Valley Police added: "The investigation is ongoing at this time, we would ask that people do not speculate and can confirm that at this time no-one else is being sought in relation to this incident."
