The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have revealed the heartbreaking news that their beloved family dog Lupo sadly passed away last weekend.

Prince William took to the official Kensington Royal Instagram page to announce the sad news, sharing a beautiful photo of the English Cocker Spaniel. In a statement, the Prince wrote, 'Very sadly last weekend our dear dog, Lupo, passed away. He has been at the heart of our family for the past nine years and we will miss him so much. - W & C'. (sic)

Followers of the page were quick to comment on the sad photo, sending their condolences to the Royal pair.

One Instagram user wrote, 'I’m so sorry for your loss. Sending love. ❤️❤️', with another adding, 'Oh, my heart! So very sorry for your loss. Dogs are the most precious creatures.'.

Another added, 'I remember well the photos of such happily glowing newlyweds with their new puppy. Now you have this beautiful family. I’m sure the children are so very sad.'

Mr Middleton also commented, writing, 'Nothing can ever prepare you for the loss of a dog. For those who have never had a dog, it might be hard to understand the loss.' (sic)

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have often spoke in the past about how much their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis loved Lupo.
