Body found in search for missing Cumali Turhan from Chelmsford
A murder investigation remains underway after Cumali Turhan's body was found
A body has been found in the search for a man from Chelmsford who had been missing since November 18th.
Cumali Turhan had gone missing from his home, with a missing person's enquiry being launched by Essex Police shortly afterwards.
Officers have now confirmed that the body of a man has been found at a landfill site in Essex on Saturday (January 11th).
Following lines of enquiry, Essex Police have since confirmed that this is the body of Cumali Turhan.
As a result of the discovery, the missing person's search has been stood down and the Cumali's family have been informed of the update.
Speaking on the update, Detective Chief Inspector Louise Metcalfe from Essex Police said: "Specialist officers have been working diligently for 45 days at the landfill site in conditions that have called heavily on their resilience.
"Their hard work has continued unabated even during the extreme weather to support detectives who have worked quickly to progress the extremely challenging investigation.
"Throughout this difficult time, we have been in regular contact with Cumali’s family.
"They will continue to be supported by specialist officers as it will take some time for them to come to terms with this news."
Police are expected to be at the landfill site for several days as investigations into how long Turhan's body had been there for.
An appeal for information as to the whereabouts of the main suspect remains open, according to the force.
The suspect, named by police as Ceyhan Dinler, 38, from Chelmsford, left the country via London Stansted Airport on the same day that Turhan had contact with anyone.
