A 15-year-old black-and-white cat from Brighouse has been reunited with her owners after unexpectedly taking a train journey to Manchester Airport.
Angel, a well-known local feline with a reputation for adventure, boarded a 3:55am TransPennine Express (TPE) service from Brighouse on 28th October. Known around the town for her escapades, she has previously been spotted on a rail replacement bus and even relaxing in a pub.
During the journey, Conductor Will Saunders was alerted by a passenger to the surprise stowaway who confidently wandered the train’s carriages. He described Angel as “so calm and confident on the train - it was like she’d done it before!”
Upon arrival at Manchester Airport, TPE staff ensured Angel’s safety and comfort, placing her in a cardboard box before moving her to the station office. Later, with the help of his partner, Will took Angel to his home in Stockport for the night to keep her out of harm's way.
The next morning, the couple noticed a number on Angel’s collar and contacted her owners, who were relieved to hear she was safe. Will and his partner personally drove Angel back to Brighouse, reuniting her with her family.
Andrew McClements, Customer Experience & Transformation Director at TPE, commended staff efforts, saying, “Our teams are used to helping customers reach their destinations, but this was definitely one of our more unusual passengers. We’re just glad we could make sure this adventurous feline made it home safely.”
Angel’s owners were grateful for the kind actions of TPE staff, ensuring their furry family member is now resting safely after her latest journey.
