Boy arrested after three people injured at Birley Community College in Sheffield

A 17-year-old is being questioned on suspicion of attempted murder

A 17-year-old boy is being questioned by police following reports three people were injured at Birley Community College in Sheffield this morning (Wednesday 1 May).

Officers were called out at around 8:50am to reports of an incident involving a sharp object at the school on Birley Lane.

Two adults have been taken to hospital with minor injuries, while a child is also being checked over in hospital.

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody.

Police say they will remain at the scene throughout the day to provide assurances to those in the school and the local community.
