Murder inquiry launched after body found in search for missing Plymouth teenager

Formal identification has yet to be carried out but Bobbi-Anne McLeod's family have been informed

Detectives investigating the disappearance of an 18-year-old woman from Plymouth have launched a murder investigation.

Devon & Cornwall Police have confirmed a body has been found in the search for Bobbi-Anne McLeod.

18-year-old Bobbi-Anne was reported missing on Saturday (20th November) after she failed to meet with friends in the city.

Officers have been carrying out searches and have now confirmed the body of a woman was found near Bovisand on Tuesday 23rd November.

Devon & Cornwall Police say formal identification has not been carried out but the family of Bobbi-Anne have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Two men in their 20s from Plymouth have been arrested on suspicion of murder and both are in custody.

In a statement, Devon & Cornwall Police said: "Detectives investigating the disappearance of 18-year-old Bobbi-Anne McLeod have launched a murder investigation.

"Bobbi-Anne was reported missing to police on Saturday 20th November after she failed to meet with friends in Plymouth.

"Police officers & staff have been engaged in enquiries with members of the public and completing searches since concerns for Bobbi-Anne were first reported.

"Sadly, earlier today the body of a woman was located near Bovisand, South Hams during searches by police officers. These searches were carried out following information received by police.

"Formal identification has yet to be carried out but the family of Bobbi-Anne McLeod have been informed of this development and are being supported by investigators".

"Two men, aged 24 and 26 from Plymouth, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody at this time".

Devon & Cornwall Police added that enquiries remain ongoing in relation to this matter.

They have urged anyone with information which may assist the ongoing investigation to contact police on 101 quoting log 706 22/11/21.
