Armed police arrest man after knife threats in Kent

A 25-year-old man has been arrested by police after allegedly making threats with a knife in Kent.

A video clip appears to show the dramatic moment the man was detained by armed police on Friday evening in Faversham.

The clip, posted on social media, shows police chasing a man through an unnamed street shouting for him to stop.

At the end of the chase the man turns to officers and puts his hands in the air as they order him to get on the ground.

Kent Police confirmed the force was called at 8.30pm on Friday to a report of a disturbance at a property at Breeze Meadow in the market town.

"It was reported that a man was making threats and was in possession of a knife," a force spokesperson said.

"Officers attended and arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm, threats to kill and possession of knife.

"He was also arrested on suspicion of criminal damage relating to damage to a police vehicle.

"He remains in custody as inquiries in the incident continue."

It is understood two knives were recovered at the scene.
