Rangers announce new contract for captain Lee Wallace
The Ibrox club confirmed a three-year extension through to 2019 on their official website.
Rangers have announced a new contract for captain Lee Wallace.
The Ibrox club confirmed a three-year extension through to 2019 on their official website as they prepare for life in the top flight after winning the Championship last season.
Wallace joined Rangers from Hearts in 2011 and was a stand-out player in the recent campaign, winning the PFA Scotland Championship Player of the Year award as well as sweeping the board at the club's own ceremony.
"There was absolutely never a doubt over what I want to do for the rest of my career. It was in the club's hands and my hands last season to make sure I did what I could to remain a part of the club I love," Wallace told Rangers TV.
"Everyone that knows me at the club and outside too knows how delighted I am. I was running into the last year of my current deal, and we had started talks towards the end of last year, but given the big games we had in that period, I was happy to wait until pre-season. "So there are some really exciting times ahead and I am hugely excited to be a part of things for the next three years.''
Meanwhile, Matt Crooks and Josh Windass are free to begin training with Rangers after the Ibrox outfit agreed compensation with the duo's former club Accrington Stanley, the League Two club announced.
The news comes just a day after Windass branded Accrington as petty'' for refusing to let them train with Mark Warburton's side before June 30.
The duo signed pre-contracts with Rangers in January before finishing the season with Accrington.
An Accrington statement read: "Accrington Stanley and Rangers have agreed compensation terms for the move of Matt Crooks and Josh Windass to Ibrox.
"The pair are now released from their obligations with the Reds and free to head north of the border to train with their new club.
"Everyone at the Wham Stadium would like to thank Matt and Josh for their service in Stanley colours and wish them all the best for the next stage in their career."
