An Iain Vigurs brace gave Inverness their first win in more than a month as they saw off a poor Kilmarnock 2-1 in the Premiership. Vigurs opened the scoring after 15 minutes after an error at the back by Killie and he doubled his tally in the 32nd to put the home side in control. Chances were hard to come by in the second half as the hosts dug in to hold on to their lead. Mark Connolly pulled one back for the visitors, steering home a Steven Smith corner, but they could not find an equaliser as Inverness climbed to seventh in the table. Caley Thistle made one change from the side that lost to Celtic a fortnight ago. Ross Draper missed out through injury and a first start since the opening day of the season was handed to former Stoke youngster Nat Wedderburn. Kilmarnock made one change, the suspended Stuart Findlay replaced by Kevin McHattie. A quiet opening 15 minutes was brought to life following a mix-up in the Killie defence. Neither Conrad Balatoni nor McHattie dealt with a loose ball, allowing Liam Polworth to nip in and square for Vigurs to slide into the far corner. Kilmarnock continued to look poor at the back and were lucky to not gift Caley Thistle a second when Connolly gave possession straight to Miles Storey. Bar a Kris Boyd free-kick high over the bar, the visitors offered little in the first half. Vigurs deservedly put the hosts 2-0 up before the break when he finished off Storey's cross, which came to him after a clever dummy from James Vincent. Inverness were well on top by the break and showing little sign of being troubled by Killie, whose frustrations were beginning to boil over. Caley Thistle started the second half in the same vein as the first, retaining possession well. An adventurous run by Josh Meekings saw the right-back fire in a cross, aiming for the back post but instead finding the crossbar. Fortunately for the below-par visitors the ball rebounded to safety. Given their dominance, Inverness were able to withdraw Storey for Andrea Mbuyi-Mutombo, who added another direct element to the home attack. His smart back-heel teed up a chance for Polworth, who could only squeeze it wide of a post. Josh Magennis fired a rare effort wide for Gary Locke's men, while at the other end Mbuyi-Mutombo provided an exact replica for Caley Thistle. Connolly's late consolation three minutes from time proved too little too late for Killie, who dropped to second bottom.
