Deila Wants To See More Confidence On The Ball From Celtic

Ronny Deila urged his Celtic players to be braver on the ball after they let slip a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Fenerbahce in their Europa League clash at Parkhead.

The Hoops were in control of their Group A fixture against the Turkish side through goals from Leigh Griffiths and Kris Commons until a horror mistake by Efe Ambrose two minutes from the break allowed substitute Fernandao to pull a goal back.

The Brazilian striker, on in the 40th minute for the injured Volkan Sen, headed in his second three minutes after the restart from a corner after he had escaped the attention of Ambrose and although the home side rallied, they had to settle for a point.

Celtic now face a double-header against Norwegian outfit Molde, who are two points clear of the Hoops at the top of the section on four points following their 1-1 draw with Ajax.

The Norwegian, while stressing the positives, pinpointed the way he wants his side to play under his tutelage.

Deila said: Yes, I am a little bit disappointed that we didn't win, but I am happy that we got a point and the group is still very open.

We have to take the positive things as well. I am very happy with Kieran Tierney in his (European) debut, Scott Brown was fantastic in the midfield and worked really hard and James Forrest - what a difference we can see in him from half a year ago.

So there are positive things there.

But for me, I want to see us more on the ball, I want to see us braver on the ball to develop our own play and that is going to be the key for the future.''

However, the former Stromsgodset boss could not ignore Ambrose's error which gave Fenerbahce a lifeline.

Deila said: When you are defending you need to keep concentration for 90 minutes and that is the biggest challenge Efe has.

He plays 88 minutes very good but he sometimes makes some easy mistakes and this was one of them.

As a defender you have to keep concentration for 90 minutes.''
