A professional wrestler from Edinburgh's telling us about his surreal week after swapping the ring for a chart battle with Taylor Swift.

Joe Hendry's TNA Wrestling entrance theme topped the iTunes chart in the UK this week - ahead of the pop sensation – and also made it to No6 in the United States where he’s a big star of the ring.

The Edinburgh-born wrestler’s song I Believe in Joe Hendry has taken the internet by storm after the 36-year-old posted his music video on social media.

He told us: “It’s been awesome. What an incredible week. It’s been No1 in the UK, No6 in the US – it’s so good to something different and fun.

“The wrestling fans are no joke. I needed some serious back-up to go up against the Swifties. So it’s been much appreciated.

“But I have been treated pretty well but the Taylor Swift fan base – especially after calling her out. They’ve been fairly respectful.

“No disrespect to Taylor. She’s an awesome performer. All I was suggesting that she take on week holiday and let Joe Hendry do his thing then she can the throne back!”

Known for his musical exploits in the ring, Hendry turned into a TikTok sensation almost overnight.

Fans have fallen in love with his persona and his singing in the ring, with the Scot often playing guitar and starring in his own music videos.

Since then, the wrestling community - and beyond - has helped push his signature song up the charts.
