Woman left seriously injured following A82 hit and run
The incident happened yesterday at Abriachan at around 5pm
A woman has been left in a serious condition in hospital after a hit and run near Inverness.
Emergency services rushed out to the scene of the collision on the A82 at Abriachan yesterday at around 5pm.
A 49-year-old woman, driving a grey VW golf, was taken to hospital after the crash with a black Mercedes Vito style van.
Police Scotland say her condition is not life-threatening.
The van driver stopped further up the road, then left the scene.
Officers are now desperately trying to trace the van and its driver.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Road Policing Officers are appealing for information following a hit and run on the A82 at Abriachan.
"Around 5pm on Sunday, 24 November, 2024 a black Mercedes Vito style van was involved in a collision with a grey Volkswagen Golf.
"The driver of the Golf, a 49-year-old woman, was taken to hospital for treatment. Her condition is described as serious but not life-threatening.
"The driver of the van stopped further up the road then left the scene. Enquiries are ongoing to trace the vehicle and driver."
Road Policing Constable Scott Smith added: “I’d urge the driver of this black van to come forward as quickly as possible.
"They will be aware they’ve been involved in a collision and are likely to have damage to their vehicle.
“I’m also appealing to anyone who was on the A82 around the time and saw what happened to get in touch.
"If you have dash cam footage of the area please review this and bring anything significant to our attention.”
