Woman finds live SNAKE in her cutlery drawer
Look away now if you have a phobia
A Leith woman's had a scare after opening her cutlery drawer to find a live SNAKE.
She was getting set to have dinner in her Lindsay Road flat on Tuesday when she made the discovery.
The woman called a friend in a panic, before getting in touch with the Scottish SPCA.
The two foot long California Kingsnake is now being cared for by the charity - they've also named him Zak.
Animal Rescue Officer Fiona Thorburn said: "The lady was just about to have her dinner and got a real fright when she reached into the drawer to grab cutlery and found Zak curled up on the knives and forks.
"As she has a phobia of snakes she called her friend for help to contain him, only to discover he'd disappeared from the drawer.
"Thankfully they managed to locate him in a cupboard elsewhere in the kitchen before he could sneak away."
"All snakes can be really good escape artists - so there's every chance Zak has an owner nearby who is looking for him."
