Woman Admits To Dropping Baby On Head

A woman who got drunk and picked up a baby by the ankles before dropping him on his head and severely injuring him will learn her fate next month. Rachel McIntyre, 38, from Balloch had sentence deferred until February 10 for a background report. McIntyre appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court today. Her solicitor said she would plead guilty on indictment to an offence under the Children and Young Persons' Act. McIntyre admitted, that on June 16 last year, the wilful ill-treatment of a child while under the influence of alcohol in Lawers Way, she removed a child from a pram, held him by the ankles over her shoulders whereby he fell to the pavement, causing him severe injury. McIntyre had her bail continued.
