Caithness & Sutherland mums fear pregnancy after health cuts

Published 30th Nov 2016

The NHS is trying to calm the fears of pregnant Caithness and Sutherland mums after cutting back their local healthcare services.

NHS Highland agreed plans yesterday to scrap specialist doctors at the unit in Wick - downgrading the facility to having only midwives.

It'll mean women with complications being rushed by ambulance more than 100-miles away to Raigmore hospital in Inverness.
