Military Wives Choirs in the North say they're hoping their Christmas album will reach number one.

Over 1,000 singers from the UK and beyond took part in recording 'Home for Christmas' - including the Military Wives Choirs in Inverness, Lossiemouth, and Kinloss.

Jenn French (Kinloss) was among them, and tells MFR News that the music's message is personal: "Christmas four years ago - my husband was in Afghanistan. I was pregnant, expecting our twins. It's a really horrible time, and it shouldn't be, because it's just another day, but it's a day that you should spend with your family.

"Though Afghanistan is done, and we're no longer there, they're still away training. My husband lives in Edinburgh, and I live in Moray, so it's really tricky.

"My husband was supposed to be away this Christmas. At the time of the recording I thought he would be. Fortunately he's not anymore. It's very emotional, but it's nice to be able to be there with your choir sisters and sing."

The album goes on sale on Friday.
