A Nairn man has broken the world record for the longest session playing bagpipes.

Andrew MacLennan was at Hootananny pub in Inverness when he beat the record previously set by a man in Aberdeen.

The 44-year-old, needed to beat 26-hours, 5-minutes, and 32-seconds, and he completed the challenge after 3pm on Friday.

Speaking before the event, he told MFR News: "I am using this event to fundraise for three local charities: Highland Hospice, Maggie's Cancer Care, and Drumnadrochit Piping Society.

"Both the Highland Hospice and Maggie's are charities close to my heart, because I have lost family members to cancer over the years.

"As part of my fundraising effort I have written a new tune to be raffled off at the event.

"The winner of the raffle will get the chance to name the tune and will receive a signed framed copy for themselves."
