"I wouldn't really say that I look like the most typical boxer, because I'm quite small and petite" MEGAN GORDON

A Moray teenager has become the first female boxer ever to be picked to represent Scotland at a Commonwealth Games event.

Megan Gordon (pictured above), from Rothes, is among more than 40-athletes who will travel to the Bahamas in July to compete in the Commonwealth Youth Games.

The 17-year-old - who goes by the nickname 'Princess Meg' - trains at Elgin Amateur Boxing Club, where she's hoping more girls will get involved in the sport.

She told MFR News: "I was boxing last Wednesday, Scotland against England, and I won that."

"I wouldn't really say that I look like the most typical boxer, because I'm quite small and petite.

"Obviously a lot of people don't want to get hit in the face. Not even I want to get hit in the face.
