WATCH: Location & timescale revealed for Inverness Tilting Pier

Controversial see-saw structure could be built in Inverness within a year

A so-called iconic tilting pier, thought to be the first of its kind in the world, could be built in Inverness within a year. Highland Council officials have confirmed the controversial artwork would be built on the banks of the River Ness - opposite Eden Court - by June 2017, if councillors vote to give it planning consent to build.

That's despite a backlash on social media, and over 2,000-people backing a petition to stop construction of the £300,000 outdoor artwork.

But the group behind the project is claiming that an official study into the economic benefits of having the pier as a major tourist attraction, has found that £150,000 will be drawn into the local economy every year.
