Highland family avoid deportation for at least 2-months

An Australian family facing deportation from the Highlands have been given a 2-month extension to stay put, for now.

But the Brain family's claiming their chances of successfully applying for a visa to remain in the North are "impossible".

That's because the family have to hold about Ā£3,000 in their bank account, and Gregg told MFR News that they're not able to do that: "Our right to work has been revoked so we are still very much completely in limbo.

"We're staying at a friend's house which they've very kindly donated to us in the short term so that we can have a roof over our heads.

"There has been an over-enthusiastic application of rules and regulations, which has achieved a result, which is the exact opposite to what the policy was designed for, which is to make sure that immigration is restricted to those who would be an asset to the country to allow in."
