Building work has started in Inverness to link the Dores roundabout with the A82 at Torvean.

Construction on a temporary bridge over the River Ness has begun, as part of the £55million West Link bypass.

Highland Council's head of infrastructure Colin Howell says timing the construction is tricky: "There's never a good time to do these things, but the least impact that we have on the fish in terms of spawning migratory salmon, is always recognised between July and October."
