WATCH: Brew at the Bog business goes bust

Inverness venue Bogbain Farm says new festival on the way

Highland music festival Brew at the Bog has been cancelled for next year because the company organising the event is shutting down.

Musicians are still waiting to be paid by Mint77 for this year's concerts at the Inverness venue Bogbain Farm.

But the company's director Yvonne Murray has said that she's "not "well enough" for the annual festival to continue into 2017.

Tickets had been on sale for over £40 but MFR News understands that people will now be refunded.

One of the musicians who was not paid after turning up this year is the operator of Bogbain Farm and a band member of Blazin' Fiddles.

Bruce MacGregor told MFR News: "Brew at the Bog highlighted so many of the new, up and coming bands that have made a good name for themselves.

"It was a great showcase.

"I think it was 70-per-cent of the people who came to the concerts last year were actually from the central belt.

"It's particularly difficult now for young bands trying to get out there.

"The great thing about Brew at the Bog was that you could go and see a band that you'd never heard of, and that could be the start of a great love affair with that band and their music."
