Voluntary Breath Tests Offered At Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival
Revellers at a Highland music festival are being offered voluntary breath tests to ensure they are within the new legal limit before driving home.
Police want drivers to make use of the service at the Belladrum Tartan Heart festival or they could lose their licence, risk a fine of up to ÂŁ5,000 and six months in prison if caught over the lower limit, which means one drink could put a motorist over the legal level.
The Proclaimers, Manic Street Preachers and Kaiser Chiefs are headlining the popular festival near Beauly, Inverness, which finishes on Saturday night with thousands of people expected to head home on Sunday morning and afternoon.
Crowds are being urged to enjoy themselves but officers said buses will be running from the site for those unfit to drive.
Inspector Ewan Henderson said: "Police Scotland will be offering a voluntary drink driving breath test service on site at the Belladrum Festival, supported by our Police Youth Volunteer Scheme.
"This will be located at three locations at the exits to the car parks from the Red Camp Site and Green / Yellow Camp Site and also next to the Box Office Cabin at the Campervan Site.
"This will be operating from 9am onwards on Sunday. Revellers are encouraged to take up this service, so that they may drive within the legal limits and have a safe drive home."
