Victim of fatal Fraserburgh Harbour incident named

Police have revealed the identity of the man who lost his life during an incident at Fraserburgh Harbour on 14 August 2018.

William Ironside (52) has been named as the man who died on a vessel at Fraserburgh Harbour.

Police were called shortly after 2pm to reports of a number of men falling ill.

The 52 year old died shortly after emergency services arrived.

Four other men were taken to hospital, and have since been treated and released.

Detective Inspector Stewart Drummond said: 'Our thoughts continue to be with Mr Ironside’s family at what will be a very difficult and sad time.

'They have asked that their privacy is respected.'

He added: 'We are continuing to carry out enquiries in conjunction with other independent agencies including the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and also the Marine Accident Investigation Branch.

'A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course as is the case with all sudden deaths.'
