Victim of crash in Glengarry believed to be missing man

Officers searching for a missing man in the Highlands have found a body in a crashed car.

Matthew Tomlinson, 29, was believed to have been in the Kyle area on Friday afternoon and was travelling towards Invergarry but was reported missing by his family on Saturday.

Officers searching for him discovered a serious one-car crash on the A87 in Glengarry at around 8.45am on Monday.

A man found dead within the vehicle is still to be formally identified but Mr Tomlinson's family have been informed.

A force spokesman said: "As part of efforts to trace missing person Matthew Tomlinson, 29, police found a serious one vehicle road traffic collision in the Glengarry area at around 8.45am today, Monday, 24 December.

"Police are making enquiries into the collision. While this is under investigation the road remains closed.

"Traffic is being diverted via Invermoriston.

"Police would like to thank the public for their assistance at this time.'
