Investigations are ongoing to trace a missing Aberdeenshire man, who police believe was involved in a car crash during the early hours of this morning.

Officers say they spoke to the driver of the vehicle which crashed near Turriff.

They understand this was Stephen Duncan.

Police are urgently trying to find the 57-year-old from Banff, as he may require medical treatment.

At around 1am this morning, emergency services were alerted to a Suzuki Celerio, which was left damaged on the B9025.

Police say they briefly spoke to him over the phone, but haven't been able to contact him since.

He is described as being around 5ft 8, with receding grey hair and glasses.

Inspector Jennifer Cordiner, from Fraserburgh Police Station, said: "Given that Stephen may have been involved in a serious crash, we are trying to trace him as a matter of urgency due to concerns he may require medical attention.

"Officers have carried out a search in the area and also at his home address, with no result.

"We are asking anyone who may have information on Stephen’s whereabouts to come forward and call police on 101, quoting incident 0144 of 30 September."
