UPDATE: Inverness newborn who died is named by police

Michaela Haining was just 3 weeks old when her 'unexplained' death occurred.

Police in Inverness have named the baby girl who died after being taken into hospital last Thursday.

Mikayla Haining was just three-weeks-old, and investigators at the newborn's Hilton home are treating Mikayla's death as 'unexplained'.

Forensic examiners will remain at the Mackay Road property over the next few days.

Detective Inspector Brian Geddes said: "We have been conducting a number of enquiries in the local community as we try to establish the full circumstances surrounding Michaela's death.

"Specialist officers, including forensic officers have been involved in the investigation so far and will continue to be in the area over the next few days.

"I'd like to thank the community for their patience while these enquiries continue."
