Emergency services called out to reports of fire at Inverness pub

An Inverness city centre street has now re-opened following a small fire.

Firefighters were called to MacCallums on Union Street earlier this morning after receiving calls regarding smoke coming from the building.

Three fire engines were sent out to the three storey building.

Nobody was injured in the incident and the bar will re-open this afternoon.

Licensee at MacCallums, Eric De Venny, thanked the quick response from onlookers.

He said: "It was a small fridge fire.

"My thanks goes to the vigilance of passers-by and the emergency services.

"MacCallums will open again this afternoon."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “"We were alerted at 9.27am on Thursday, February 17 to reports of smoke issuing from a building on Union Street, Inverness.

“Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances to a fire affecting the ground floor of a three-storey building.

"There are no reported casualties"
