Two hillwalkers had to be rescued in the Cairngorms last night after bad weather left them stranded.
The Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team located the walkers close to the summit of Ben Macdui.
The pair were led to safety through gale force winds, thunder and lightning and taken to hospital by a Royal Navy search and rescue helicopter.
Rescue team leader Willie Anderson said: "We were really concerned for these folk as the chances of survival on a night like this were very slim."
The rescue operation took more than five hours to complete.
