Coastguards were alerted at around 1.20am on Sunday by a 999 call reporting that two people were overdue after leaving the Hotel Eilean Iarmain in Isleornsay.
They were due to return by dinghy to a yacht anchored in the bay but had not arrived.
Coastguard rescue teams from Kyle of Lochalsh, Portree and Broadford were called out to assist alongside the Mallaig lifeboat.
A spokesman for the coastguard said: “We recovered two casualties from the water.
“It appears to be two males and we suspect they had capsized.”
The men were taken by lifeboat to Mallaig where they were transferred to an ambulance and transported to Belford Hospital in Fort William.
