Two men have died in separate house fires in the Highlands.
In the first incident, emergency services were called to a property well alight'' in Trentham Street, Helmsdale, at around 4.30pm on Saturday.
Around 20 firefighters were met with flames and thick black smoke and a crew entered the building to search for anyone inside.
One man was found and removed from the building and airlifted to hospital but died a short time later, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said.
Two dogs also died in the fire.
Incident commander Ricky Dibble said: This was obviously a very difficult and serious fire to deal with but the fire crews worked tirelessly throughout.
Their professionalism is to be commended, as the rescue was carried out quickly and effectively in extremely adverse conditions.''
In the second fire a man in his 80s was found dead by firefighters in the property in the Rothiemurchas area of Aviemore at around 1.30pm on Sunday.
Police said his family have been informed.
Investigations have started into the causes of both fires.
Meanwhile, a woman is being treated in hospital in Stornoway after a residential fire in the Tarbert area of the Isle of Harris.
Emergency services were called to the incident at around 12.30pm on Sunday.
Police said inquiries into the fire are ongoing.
