The incident occurred on Sunday evening around 6pm with emergency services called to MacRae Crescent in Dingwall.
Engineers isolated the gas supply as a precaution and carried out safety check, but MFR News has been told the incident was not gas related.
The men were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness with serious injuries.
Investigations into the cause of the explosion are still on-going.
Speaking to MFR News, Dingwall councillor Margaret Paterson said, 'It's been a very worrying time for the residents because it's the fear of the unknown'
'I think now that they know it's not a gas leak their minds have been put at rest. As soon as we know what it is Police will let them know, they've been very diligent'
'I'd also like to thank the other emergency services that attended, the Fire Service and Ambulance, there's also engineers who are in their trying to find out what happened'
