“She just quit her job, booked a flight, and went on the adventure of a lifetime...”

We’re constantly hearing of these sorts of stories and it gets you thinking – could I just pick a point on the world map and go? Is travelling alone boring? Where would I go? Could I afford it? Would I get lonely?

Maybe, the question you should be asking is – why on earth not?!

There’s a wealth of experience and beauty to be found on our planet, so if you’re not going to discover it yourself, who will? Here are some suggestions to spike your wanderlust, but ultimately it’s up to you to get out there – go for it!

Switzerland-----------

Lovers of the great outdoors will find their heaven in Switzerland – commanding mountains, pristine lakes, shrouded forests and (just because it’s Switzerland) more chocolate than you can shake a stick at! The famous hospitality, docile nature and friendliness of the Swiss also make this destination as must-visit for solo travellers.

Canada------

Incredible scenery, buzzing cities, incredible food (pancakes and maple syrup – need we say more?), and a native population with a humour likened to ours – Canada is ready to win your heart. Make sure you make a stop off at Niagara Falls!

New Zealand-----------

There’s a reason Lord of the Rings and Jurassic Park opted to use the landscape of New Zealand as the backdrop of their films – it’s utterly jaw-dropping. Tropical forests, glaciers, untouched beaches, an incredibly underrated nightlife and - as if that wasn’t enough - its home to one of the most picturesque, idyllic towns on the planet – Queenstown. This is definitely one for the list.

Taiwan------

Its nickname, Formosa, means ‘beautiful island’ in Portuguese – it’s not difficult to see why. Taiwan boasts volcanic mountain ranges, expansive national parks and forests, and a culture steeped in history and intrigue. To top it off, the locals couldn’t be friendlier, and the food? Take a visit to Taipei’s night markets to see what we’re talking about!

Bali----

Ancient temples, tropical beaches laden with hammocks, sprawling forests with incredible wildlife – Bali is a quiet and mystical destination of pure beauty. Your soul will thank you for visiting this amazing place. So, there you go – feeling inspired? Don’t think about it – just go, with MFR Escapes.
