Some trains from Scotland to England have been cancelled today, due to strike action.

Members of ASLEF, the train drivers' union, are walking out over pay.

There will be no trains today on:

  • Avanti West Coast
  • Transpennie Express
  • Cross Country
  • Lumo

LNER is operating a limited timetable with trains only running between Edinburgh and London King's Cross, and not extending to Dundee, Aberdeen or Inverness.

Passengers are being advised not to attempt to travel by train today and, instead, make other arrangements and claim a refund for existing bookings.

Action also on Saturday

More disruption is expected tomorrow, as the RMT union are set to strike. Trains from Scotland to England will be limited, but not completely cancelled.

This comes before the Eurovision final in Liverpool tomorrow.

Barry Milsom, Executive Director of Operations and Safety at Avanti West Coast, said: “We’re doing all we can to get visitors to and from Liverpool during Eurovision but more strike action by ASLEF and RMT will affect our services."

While Scottish Eurovision fans will be able to make their way to Liverpool, they are being warned to expect a "significantly reduced timetable".

Milsom said: "All customers should plan ahead, check before they travel and be aware of their last train home."

ScotRail running as normal

ScotRail trains will NOT be affected by the strike action and all services are set to run as usual.

David Simpson, Scotrail Service Delivery Director, said: "The dispute between the trade unions and other train operators does not involve any ScotRail staff.

"We look forward to welcoming passengers to our services.”

The Caledonian Sleeper will also not be affected.
