Teenager killed in crash near Thurso was "friend to many"

Police have named the young man who died in a road accident near Thurso on Saturday, December 1.

He was James Connor Cook, 19, from the Bettyhill area.

His family has issued the following statement through Police Scotland:

"It is with great sorrow we announce the sudden death of our son Connor, aged 19.

"Beloved son of James and Mary, brother of Tori and Erin and friend to many in Sutherland and Caithness."

Mr Cook, known as Connor, was the driver and sole occupant of a purple Ford Fiesta which came off the unclassified Hill of Forss road around half a mile from the A836 junction.

It happened on Saturday night and no other vehicles were involved.

Road Policing Sergeant Alan Henderson said: "Our thoughts are with Connor's family and friends at this difficult time.

"Our enquiries into the incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone who can help the investigation but has not yet spoken to police to get in touch."
