Teenager dies following A9 crash between car and lorry

Police Scotland say their thoughts remain with the family and friends of the deceased, along with everyone else affected by the incident.

An 18-year-old man has died following a crash between a lorry and a car south of Inverness.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the collision near Dalmagarry at around 6am yesterday morning.

The teen was the sole occupant of the car and was pronounced dead at the scene, police say his next have kin have been made aware.

The lorry driver was uninjured.

Firefighters were reported to have been working to extinguish the blaze affecting one of the vehicles involved.

Police Scotland's Sergeant David Miller, from the Dingwall Road Policing Unit, said: "At this time, our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the deceased, along with everyone else affected by this incident."

The road was closed until around 11.15pm last night and a 70 mile diversion was put in place.

Resurfacing works also had to be carried out following the incident.

Police say enquiries into the full circumstances surrounding the crash remain ongoing.
